Access Hollywood Responds to Tom Cruise's Remarks

Access Hollywood contacted PSI President Shoshana Bennett to give a formal statement in response to Tom Cruise's remarks on May 26, 2005 regarding Brooke Shields' postpartum depression.

"By courageously sharing her story, Brooke Shields is encouraging women suffering from postpartum depression to get the help they need. Nutrition is certainly an important component in balancing brain chemistry. However it is irresponsible and potentially harmful for someone without professional expertise to discourage those with a serious medical condition from receiving a treatment which could save their lives."
